We take typewriters and other analog / tired keyboards that still have parts, stories, or scrap worth keeping. Some get restored for teaching. Some get parted out. Some get stripped and remade so the metal does not go to the curb as a single sad object.
If it is a computer keyboard, a dead laptop, or a box of orphan keys, write first. We would rather reuse than landfill, and we will tell you if we are the wrong shop.
Work order: donation copy
Short policy (~100 words). Ideas: what you will take without appointment; what needs a photo first; that you cannot promise a machine will be kept intact; pickup vs drop-off in SF. Keep the “no storefront yet” fact quiet: say “write us and we will arrange a handoff.”
